Zhongyang County is rich in forest resources, with a forest area of 890000 Mu and a forest coverage rate of 41.2%; The region is rich in biological resources, there are more than 300 kinds of Chinese herbal resources such as licorice, Poria cocos, Codonopsis pilosula, pine seed, hawthorn, fungi, and wild plants collected. There are more than 100 kinds of wild animals, including brown eared pheasant, leopard and roe deer, which are national Class 1 and Class 2 protected animals. Baizi sheep is a well-known local specialty of Zhongyang, which is one of the "Treasures of Three Jin Region". The area is also rich in mineral resources, there are more than 20 kinds of mineral resources, such as coal, iron, bauxite, quartz and so on. Among them, coal in Zhongyang County is famous for its large reserves, high quality and shallow burial. The county has a coal bearing area of 450 square kilometers and reserves of 4.9 billion tons. After structural adjustment in recent years, the industrial economy of Zhongyang County has also developed rapidly, forming three pillar industries of coal and coke, iron and steel, and building materials. Leading enterprises such as Sinosteel, Taoyuan, and a number of small and medium-sized enterprises have been built, mainly distributed in the three parks of shangjiayu Industrial Park (Municipal Park), Zhike Industrial Park, and Xishan Coal Industrial Park.
